The Host

Milton Public Library is thrilled that Michael Serapio will return to host his fifth One Book, One Milton event! This year's interview will look a little different due to Covid-19 as it will be held on a virtual platform, but we can't wait to watch what will surely be a lively discussion with our 2020 author Samra Habib, about her CBC Canada Reads award-winning book We Have Always Been Here.

Michael Serapio started his journalism career as a writer and chase producer for CTV's Canada AM.

He moved to Ottawa where served as the program's parliamentary producer, before becoming senior field  producer for CTV News, and then supervising producer for CTV's political affairs program, Sunday Edition.

Michael's producing career culminated with stints as a senior specials producer and acting executive producer of Canada AM, all before the age of 30.

But Michael always wanted to be a reporter, so at 30, he refocused his career.

He left network news to be a local reporter in Vancouver, and followed that with reporting assignments for both Toronto1 and CityNews in Toronto.

In 2010, Michael joined CBC News to host the breaking news desk on CBC News Network.

He has been anchoring since 2011 and is the weekend daytime anchor on the news service.

Michael also hosts the school current affairs program News in Review, and can be heard occasionally on CBC Radio One.

Welcome back, Michael!
