Amateur Photography Contest: Milton is Awesome

The Book of Awesome teaches us to be on the lookout for awesome things — large and small — that are all around us. One Book, One Milton invites you to grab your camera and show off what’s awesome about Milton. Winning photographs will be submitted to the Milton Canadian Champion and profiled in MPL’s online gallery.

Prizes
  1. First place: Two tickets to An Evening with Neil Pasricha and two signed copies of The Book of Awesome.
  2. Second place: Two tickets to An Evening with Neil Pasricha
  3. Third place: One signed copy of The Book of Awesome.
Contest Rules
  1. Digital images must be submitted online and must have a minimum resolution of 1536 x 1024.
  2. Each person is limited to 5 entries.
  3. The subject of the photograph must fall within the theme: "Milton is Awesome: Grab your camera, head out into the community, and show us what’s awesome about Milton."
  4. Photographs must be taken in Milton or surrounding Halton Region.
  5. Photographers must obtain consent for any people present in their photographs, and be able to demonstrate such consent upon request.
  6. The contest is open to amateurs only. A professional is defined as one whose primary source of income (50% or more) results from his / her photographic work.
  7. By entering this contest, the photographer agrees to have his / her entry displayed in the Milton Public Library, as well as on the Milton Public Library website and / or One Book, One Milton website and its social media feeds, this year and in future years. The photographer also agrees to have his / her winning entry published in the Milton Canadian Champion.
  8. The photograph must be a single work of original material taken by the contest entrant. By entering the contest, the entrant represents, acknowledges and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the entrant and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the photograph.
  9. The contest is closed to the staff of Milton Public Library but is open to their family members, as well as all members of the Milton Public Library Board, library volunteers and their family and friends.
  10. Any entries that do not comply with the rules as described will be disqualified. Judges’ decisions are final.
  11. Entries must be received no later than November 16, 2018 by 11:59 PM.

Join us for reading recommendations and refreshments! Your MPL librarians will share their all-time favourite reads in a round of lightning book talks, followed by some delicious treats.

The Book of Awesome

Join other book lovers for a lively discussion of our 2018 One Book, One Milton book The Book of Awesome by Neil Pasricha. A limited number of copies of the book will be available for pickup by registered bookclub participants starting September 25th. Register in-person to be assured a book. Participants who have read the book previously are also welcome to join the discussions.

Copies of the book will be available for sale at a discounted price.
